TORONTO, November 2014– With the holiday season quickly approaching, many people are looking to explore new and flavourful wines from around the world.  To help introduce Canadians to new varieties of German wines, the 66th German Wine Queen Janina Huhn from the wine growing region Pfalz visited the Gourmet Food & Wine Expo at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, from November 20-23rd.

The event marked Queen Huhn’s first official visit to Canada, where she shared her knowledge of the country’s wines at the Wines of Germany tasting pavilion, which featured a wide selection of wines including quality Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer.

“It is very important for a representative from the German wine industry to visit Canada,” said Ulrike Lenhardt of the German Wine Institute. “Hundreds of German wines are released in Canada each year, and it is essential for us to educate Canadians about our appellations and how to pair them, so that they can continue to enjoy the first-class wines that Germany has to offer throughout the year.”

This 20th edition of the annual Gourmet Food and Wine Expo featured over 1,500 fine wines, spirits and beers from around the globe and hosted over 45,000 guests, including consumers, media and trade professionals.
